DIY Finishing Powder

Ok – this is embarrassing to admit but I am naturally a grease ball! I am not one of those girls that can get away with not washing her hair for 2 days. I couldn’t even make it through a whole day without having to reapply my makeup! By mid-afternoon my face would be melting off …Until THIS!

As women, wanting to look clean and fresh all day – what are our options? Apparently $40 toxic finishing powder is one of them. OR… you could use my so-safe-you-could-eat-it DIY finishing powder! Even better, it costs just pennies to make!

This miracle in a jar absorbs oil and shine, keeps your make up fresher for longer, gives you a nice smooth finish, and reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines! A very small amount is all you need, and works for all skin tones!

Key note: this must be applied AFTER ALL of your other makeup. You can also wear it alone when you don’t have time to apply makeup but don’t want to go out completely naked.

This powder only uses 2 ingredients! Arrowroot powder and bentonite clay. Bentonite clay is known for it’s healing properties and helps fight redness and inflammation. It’s also excellent for helping to fight acne! I have really noticed a huge difference in my skin’s overall appearance since using this!

Instructions:

Combine 3 teaspoons of arrowroot powder* and 1 teaspoon of bentonite clay* in a small glass jar with a lid.

*I use Bob’s Red Mill arrowroot powder and Living Clay – Detox Clay Powder.

 How to Use:

Apply a small amount to a powder brush and tap off any excess (I dip and tap). Apply a light dusting all over your face and neck just as you would with powder. Then I use my large eye shadow brush to cover my eyes. Remember, you do this AFTER all of your makeup is on, which is why I use my eye shadow brush (I don’t want to get it in my mascara). Next I’ll comb over my eyebrows to remove any excess powder.

*Tip: I apply my bronzer and blush a little heavier than I would if I wasn’t using the finishing powder because it will tone it down a bit.

That’s it! Can you believe it?! Why on earth would we spend $40 on a toxic powder when we could do this for pennies?!
